Solarvest Holdings Bhd, a provider of clean energy solutions, has joined forces with Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs), a subsidiary of the Sarawak Foundation, Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and GreenBay CES Sdn Bhd to establish a pioneering hyperscale green data center testbed and training initiative in Sarawak.

In this collaborative effort, the four entities are dedicated to promoting environmental responsibility by setting up hyperscale data centers that effectively reduce carbon emissions and enhance resource utilization.

Solarvest’s subsidiary, Solarvest Borneo Sdn Bhd, officially sealed this partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding with the other three organizations in Beijing, China. Their shared goal is to nurture the growth of the hyperscale green data center industry in the Borneo region.

In a joint statement, Solarvest emphasized that this collaboration will leverage the unique skills and specialized areas of expertise held by each of the participating parties.

The establishment of the hyperscale green data center testbed and training program is poised to stimulate research and development collaborations while fostering the creation of intellectual property in the realm of clean energy solutions.

Solarvest Borneo will contribute its profound knowledge in green energy and energy efficiency solutions, while Centexs will provide a dedicated testbed area where practical data center operations training can take place.

Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia will capitalize on its technological prowess in cloud computing, enterprise intelligence, renewable energy, and data center operations to cater to the training requirements of this program. Complementing these efforts, GreenBay will lend its expertise in constructing future-proofed data centers with a cost-efficient approach.

Last month, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the largest electricity utility company in Malaysia, also introduced a specialized initiative aimed at bolstering Malaysia’s data center market by providing streamlined and environmentally conscious solutions for data center operators, the Green Lane Pathway.

This initiative is designed to simplify the onboarding process for data centers, expedite regulatory approvals, and facilitate efficient setup of data center operations within Malaysia.
