Indonesian digital infrastructure firm PT SMPlus Digital Investama (together with its affiliates, “SM+”), announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the enterprise data centre business in Indonesia held by Princeton Digital Group (PDG), according to statements by the firms.
The business acquired includes five high-quality, operational data centre facilities located across key Indonesian markets, namely Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Pekanbaru.
This acquisition will help strengthen and expand SM+ digital infrastructure platform in Indonesia, which is experiencing strong growth in data consumption, cloud adoption and enterprise digital transformation. The firm further expects to enhance service delivery, support future growth opportunities and continue enabling Indonesia’s digital transformation through this transaction.
With this deal, SM+ will be operating 31 sites in 25 cities or markets in Indonesia.
“This acquisition marks an important milestone in our journey to build Indonesia’s leading home-grown digital infrastructure platform. By adding five facilities across Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Pekanbaru, we are expanding our nationwide footprint and strengthening our ability to serve customers as we continue supporting Indonesia’s digital economy,” said Herson Suindah, President Director and Group CEO of SM+ Holdings.
“Indonesia is a key market for PDG since entering the market in 2019. We acquired these enterprise-grade sites as part of our ‘enter-and-expand’ strategy of market entry and have since developed a hyperscale data center portfolio of ~400 MW in the country. Our focus will continue to be to build on that hyperscale portfolio (which includes the JC2, JC3 and JC4 campuses, with further expansion underway) and to enhance our leadership position in Indonesia,” said Varoon Raghavan, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Princeton Digital Group.
PDG’s total portfolio exceeds 1.8 GW across eight countries in Asia Pacific.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. UBS AG Singapore Branch is acting as exclusive financial advisor to SM+ on the transaction.
