Dallas-based Skybox Datacenters and San Francisco-based Prologis Inc., a global leader in logistics real estate, announced they had acquired 221 acres from the City of Hutto along U.S. Route 79 where a “world class” group of data centers are going to be constructed.
The United States alone has 2,751 data centers, which is the most of any nation. The development of the market is also being fueled by the rising public and private investment in the construction of data centers in the United States.
Meanwhile, due to the presence of multiple IT giants and other significant corporations, North America currently has the largest single region in the world for connectivity and the cloud.
As Skybox and Prologis collaborate, another data center facility will be built in North America which is located in what is referred to as Hutto’s “megasite,” a sizable yet undeveloped area where major corporations could locate.
As officials continue to push for the construction of a “technology superhighway” in Williamson County north of Austin, a section of the highway in Hutto is expected to be transformed into a huge data center facility.
