Singtel has revealed its plans to develop a next-generation of ‘AI data centers (AI DCs)’ designed to meet the demands of an AI-driven era. Alongside the ongoing DC Tuas project, Singtel is actively engaged in the development of two additional data center initiatives in Thailand and Indonesia.

The construction of the DC Tuas facility commenced in August, marking the beginning of Singtel’s expansion. With these projects in Thailand and Indonesia, the total pipeline capacity is set to exceed 200MW, a significant increase from the current operational capacity of 62MW in Singapore. To support this growth, Singtel recently secured a $535 million five-year green loan.

Singtel’s innovative AI DCs will implement more efficient cooling solutions such as direct-to-chip liquid or immersive cooling to prevent overheating and safeguard costly GPUs from potential damage or malfunctions.

Additionally, these centers will feature advanced real-time server monitoring platforms to ensure seamless management of expensive GPU clusters, facilitating the simultaneous operation of multiple connected networks.

The integration of Singtel’s AI DCs with various fixed and 5G mobile networks, orchestrated by the patented Paragon platform, is a key aspect of their strategy. This connectivity will enable smart devices like robotics and autonomous systems to link with AI clusters within the data centers.

This, in turn, facilitates the deployment of AI at the edge with high bandwidth and low latencies, catering to diverse industry use cases.
