Singtel has commenced the construction of DC Tuas, a green data center located in Singapore, following the groundbreaking ceremony today.
DC Tuas has an IT load capacity of 58MW and is set to become operational by 2025. It will be Singapore’s highest power density, hyper-connected green data center.
The eight-story facility, spanning an area of 120,000 square feet, is integrated with a cable landing station. This integration will enable international and domestic connectivity for its customers. The center will incorporate cooling mechanisms, including liquid cooling systems, allowing for rack densities of up to 80kW per rack and reducing PUE to below 1.3.
DC Tuas is Singtel’s largest data center venture in Singapore. The addition of DC Tuas is projected to expand Singtel’s data center capacity to a total of 118MW.
Research suggests that there are escalating demand for top-tier computing resources, such as green data centers and powerful hyperscale capabilities, which lies at the core of the data center industry’s expansion. Businesses are actively seeking data center services that can effectively address requirements concerning security, sustainability, edge computing, customization, and compliance.
Singapore has been in the forefront of improving its digital ecosystem. Just recently, the country launched new standards for data centers to support the growth of compute capacity while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Singapore is also embarking on a significant project called the Digital Connectivity Blueprint to enhance its internet and technology infrastructure. The country also aims to reinforce its status as an open economy and highly connected hub in Asia by increasing the number of submarine cable landing facilities.
Among the other data centers located in Singapore include ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), Princeton Digital Group, Keppel Data Centres, Equinix, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Verizon and AirTrunk.
