Schneider Electric has launched the EcoStruxure Plant Advisor, which leverages on cloud-based edge and data analytics solutions to empower the next evolution in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) digital plant management.

The new solution utilises hybrid connectivity with an agnostic edge-to-cloud approach to manage data source connectivity lifecycle within the same industrial data model.

Industrial enterprises are facing exponential growth in the volume of data they are handling, yet legacy systems and the lack of IT integration is still prevalent, meaning that businesses lack the end-to-end visibility needed to rapidly adjust their operations.

As a business with over 200 manufacturing sites around the world, this is a problem Schneider Electric has faced.

“Deploying EcoStruxure Plant Advisor has upgraded our own resilience and productivity. It has also equipped our smart factory teams with the tools to optimize operations at a local and global level,” said Sophie Borgne, the Senior Vice President of Digital Plant Business at Schneider Electric.

The scalable, open IIoT platform in the ExoStructure’s architecture is said to give industrial enterprises focused insights to understand the operational and process data produced, enabling common cross-function, live monitoring and application data sharing.

“The need for agility cannot be over emphasized for industrial operations. The EcoStruxure Plant Advisor suite provides industrial operations with the real-time visibility needed to understand the intricacies of operations that enables this agility,” said Craig Resnick, the Vice President of ARC Advisory Group.

Modern industrial enterprises are under enormous pressure to increase agility to meet dynamic global demand. Siloed data and the increasingly complex systems in industrial enterprise environments are believed to be hindering the ability to quickly adapt operations to meet rapidly changing social and economic requirements.

Schneider Electric’s new solution harmonises global governance, while allowing standardised local customisation in a low code environment, leveraging prebuilt IoT modules.

Speaking on the insights provided by the ExoStructure Plant Advisor, Mr. Resnick added: “This information empowers a business to pivot and an operation to maximize production efficiency while reducing energy consumption, waste, and labor costs.”

Based on pilot projects, the EcoStruxure Plant Advisor is said to enable up to a 15% reduction in unplanned downtime, a 30% reduction in maintenance costs and 8% reduction in energy costs.
