Saudi Cloud Computing Company (SCCC), which is a subsidiary of the stc Group, has now entered into a partnership with SAP, as per which, SCCC data centers will host SAP solutions locally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This will enhance data security and comply with data sovereignty regulations.

According to a statement issued, “The collaboration allows businesses to utilize the SaaS model by leveraging SAP’s advanced features that come with an ERP system. The innovation is hosted on a secure, integrated infrastructure, reducing latency and data sovereignty issues.”

The agreement is also significant as it aligns with KSA’s Vision 2030 goals surrounding digital transformation.

Talal Al Bakr, CEO of SCCC, said, “The partnership between SCCC and SAP is set to revolutionize the digital landscape in the region with the use of the Alibaba Cloud Computing Technology. This pioneering platform is more than just an IT solution; it presents a unique opportunity for businesses to establish themselves in the Kingdom by providing a platform that fosters innovation, encourages healthy competition, and facilitates rapid growth. By leveraging the power of this technology, we are creating a future that aligns with Vision 2030.”

Mohammed AlRomaizan, Vice President, SAP KSA, said, “Our partnership marks a crucial moment in the technology integration and innovation landscape. It paves the way for wider access to SAP’s digital solutions, accelerating growth and driving innovation in the Kingdom. By leveraging stc group’s market access capabilities across all sectors, we are poised to create new opportunities and expedite the digital transformation journey. This strategic collaboration will unlock immense potential for businesses and fuel technological advancements in the Kingdom.”

At present Saudi Arabia is home to nearly two dozen data centers, with over a dozen located in the capital city of Riyadh itself. SCCC was launched in June 20222 as a joint venture formed by Alibaba Cloud, Saudi Telecom Co. Group, eWTP Arabia Capital, the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence, and the Saudi Information Technology Co. It aims to build a total of 16 data centers across Saudi Arabia, with two launched in the capital city of Riyadh last year, that offer a range of cloud computing solutions, including elastic compute, and network to database, to meet the demand of sectors such as retail, fintech and internet.
