Saudi Arabia’s MIS signs framework agreement to expand DC capacity by 112 MW

Al Moammar Information Systems Company (MIS), a Saudi Arabian digital infrastructure company, has announced in a stock exchange declaration that it has signed a framework agreement with Saudi Data Centre Fund 1 to expand existing data centre infrastructure by up to 112 MW.

MIS, established in 1979, is one of the largest IT companies in Saudi Arabia, and the first Saudi public listed IT company. It provides integrated solutions for the information systems, and has global partnerships in line with the Vision 2030 of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Saudi Data Centre Fund 1 was launched in 2021, with the aim of constructing six hyperscale data centers – with an accumulated capacity of 24MW – across two availability zones in the country.

The potential capacity of the data centers was to be expanded to 120MW in the future. It is noteworthy that MIS was the design-builder for the initial capacity already under development of 32 MW, and is also the facility manager of these existing data center sites.

The stock exchange announcement said that Saudi Data Center Fund 1 was represented by Saudi Fransi Capital acting in its capacity as fund manager, and that the expansion project is expected to span 36 months. It also said that the value of the agreement will be determined upon receipt of development notices from Saudi Data center Fund 1.
