No more fraud messages for Airtel subscribers, the company involves AI to tackle frauds

SMS scams or fraud messages have become a common nuisance, and mobile phone subscribers keep bearing the brunt of these. These scams typically involve messages that trick people into sharing their personal or financial information or into making payments to fraudsters. The subscribers expect service providers to take action to prevent these scams. Telecom companies are taking a multi-faceted approach to prevent SMS fraud, using a combination of filtering, 2FA, machine learning, customer education, blacklisting, and collaboration. These measures help protect customers from the harm caused by fraudulent messages.

One of India’s leading service providers Airtel has recognized the harm these scams can cause its customers and has implemented various measures to protect them. One of the key solutions that the company has implemented is the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect and block fraudulent messages. Airtel has developed a sophisticated algorithm that can identify patterns in messages that are typical of scams. This algorithm is constantly updated and refined to stay ahead of new types of scams.

The company has also launched a new feature called “Airtel Safe Pay,” which is designed to protect customers from fraud while making online payments. This feature uses a combination of two-factor authentication and one-time passwords to ensure that only the authorized user can complete a transaction. Customers can activate Airtel Safe Pay by downloading the Airtel Thanks app and following the simple steps to set it up.

To further protect its customers, Airtel has also set up a dedicated helpline where customers can report any suspicious messages or calls that they receive. Airtel’s customer service team will investigate these reports and take appropriate action to block the fraudulent numbers and prevent further harm.

Overall, Airtel’s solutions to tackle fraud messages are believed to be comprehensive and effective. Leveraging technology, educating customers, and providing dedicated support, seem proactive steps to protect its customers from the harm caused by SMS scams.
