Qareeb Data Centres, a Bahrain headquartered edge data centre provider, and Gcore, a global player in edge AI, cloud, network, and security solutions, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost digital infrastructure in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The MoU was signed during a recently held industry expo in Bahrain.
Even though the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) continue to dominate the data center market in the Middle East, Bahrain is also one of the key emerging markets in the wider GCC region.
Bahrain: An important emerging DC market in MENA
In the latest issue of W.Media’s Cloud & Datacenters magazine, we had carried a special feature on Bahrain’s growing cloud and data center industry. As per Arizton Advisory & Intelligence, the Bahrain data center market was valued at US$ 167 million in 2023, and is expected to grow at a Compounded Average Growth Rate (CAGR) of over 9.7 percent, crossing US$291 million by 2029.
A Cloud First strategy, and initiatives like Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, are together driving the digital transformation of this island kingdom. Other factors contributing to the growth of the market here include the advent of emerging and fast evolving technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT), as well as the need for handling Big Data, and the roll out of 5G networks.
Qareeb Data Centres eyes wider GCC region
In a press release, Qareeb Data Centres said that it will leverage its edge data centre infrastructure to deliver Gcore solutions to customers across the GCC market. By integrating Gcore’s advanced AI, cloud, and edge solutions with Qareeb’s data centre capabilities, this collaboration aims to enable innovation and scalability as well as provide reliable and secure cloud solutions to address the growing demand from businesses and public sector organisations throughout the GCC.
