PT Tigabelas Solusi Nusantara (TSN), an Indonesian technology company, has opened a new data center in Lamongan, East Java. The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday, October 13th, and is expected to enhance regional internet connectivity by enabling internet service providers to exchange network traffic locally instead of relying on internet routes through major cities.
According to a report by antaranews, the facility would allow internet service providers to connect their networks closer to users, potentially reducing data transmission times and improving connection stability.
Syamsul Arifin, President Director, TSN, said, “With a data center in Lamongan, access does not always need to go through Jakarta or Surabaya first. This can make network responses faster and reduce operating costs for internet providers.”
Arif Bachtiar, secretary of the Lamongan Regency Communications and Informatics Office, said, “This is a new milestone for internet connectivity and digitalisation in Lamongan as a supporting city.”
Muhammad Arif, Chairman, Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) said, “Currently, operational data center capacity nationwide stands at around 540 MW, while infrastructure demand is expected to continue rising over the next few years.”
Yosvensa Setiawan, chairman of APJII’s East Java regional board, said the development of data centers outside major cities was part of efforts to address the uneven distribution of digital infrastructure.
Around 70 companies had installed equipment at the facility, occupying a total of 14 server racks. TSN plans to attract additional customers and expand its services to support the digital ecosystem in the Plat S region. Alongside the data center’s opening, TSN held the soft launch of IIX-JI, an internet exchange point intended to facilitate the exchange of local network traffic within the region.
TSN was established through a partnership involving 13 technology companies that operate across Lamongan, Tuban, Bojonegoro, Mojokerto and Jombang each of which are affiliated with the East Java chapter of the APJII.
