Princeton Digital Group Unveils a 22MW Hyperscale Data Center in Greater Jakarta

Princeton Digital Group (PDG) today launched its 22MW hyperscale data center facility (JC2) located in Cibitung, the campus is 35km from Jakarta’s Central Business District.

JC2 has achieved the rare feat of BCA Green Mark Platinum certification which requires high energy performance, resource stewardship and advanced green efforts. The data center campus is also the first in Indonesia to offer biomass powered capacity to its customers.

The launch of JC2 makes PDG one of Indonesia’s largest carrier-neutral, internet infrastructure operators, with six operational data centers in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Pekanbaru. PDG is also developing a 96MW campus in Batam as part of its comprehensive SG+ strategy.

Last month, PDG announced that it has entered into a renewable energy contract with PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (CL). This strategic partnership aimed to secure power derived from biomass sources, which will be utilized for this data center.

This multi-year agreement will facilitate a substantial shift towards digital sustainability through the integration of renewable energy. Initially, PDG plans to fuel up to 20% of its Cibitung data center campus using this renewable energy source.

Indonesia aims to increase renewable energy production to contribute around 48% of the total electricity by 2030 in the government’s drive for sustainability. Recently, DCI Indonesia also unveiled their second data center in Karawang which incorporated solar power facilities, making it the first solar-powered data center in the country.
