PLDT to build 100MW data center in Cavite, Philippines in 2026

PLDT Inc. has confirmed that it is planning to build its 12th and largest hyperscale data center with capacity of up to 100MW, double that of VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR) which it recently inaugurated in April, the company said in a recent written response to a Philippines Stock Exchange’s (PSE) query.

To be sited at General Trias, Cavite, PLDT’s next data center would be the largest data center in the Philippines once fully completed.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 and is expected to be completed by 2028, with capacity to be scaled up in phases, starting at 20 MW, PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan had said in his speech at VSR’s launch which was reported by BusinessWorld (Online Edition) on April 24, 2025. The chairman had further said that PLDT intended to expand their data center capacity up to 500MW to be “at least equal to the capacity of Malaysia”.

“These remarks [by the chairman] reflect the company’s long-term strategic direction to expand data center capacity in support of the country’s digital infrastructure and the growing demand for enterprise, ICT, and AI-ready solutions,” the statement said, clarifying further that the potential development of a new data center in General Trias, Cavite was currently under evaluation and remained in the planning and development stage. “Specific details—including scope, timing, and investment parameters—are still being finalized and remain subject to internal approvals and market conditions,” the statement said.

Pangilinan, together with Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had on 24th April, led the inauguration of VITRO Sta. Rosa, the country’s first AI-ready hyperscale data center. Located in Laguna’s fast-growing tech corridor, VSR is developed by VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT and the data center arm of PLDT.
