Philippines’ Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has joined forces with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) for the establishment of the North Luzon Data Center, which will be a pivotal component of the Department’s National Government Data Center Project.
According to Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John E. Uy, this collaboration signifies a significant stride toward a digitally-empowered Philippines.
This advanced data center is set to spearhead digital transformation efforts in the region and the entire country, ensuring that every Filipino can capitalize on the opportunities presented by the digital economy.
Specifically designed to serve government entities in the region, the North Luzon Data Center will promote the adoption of e-governance systems and streamline public transactions. A portion of the data center’s capacity will also be utilized by BCDA and JHMC.
The establishment of the North Luzon Data Center aligns with the DICT’s proactive approach to e-governance initiatives, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s directive to fully digitize the country’s bureaucracy.

Moreover, DICT is also looking forward to a substantial increase in data center capacity in the country, driven by the rise in data generation and the necessity for robust infrastructure to support digital transformation and cloud-based services.
DICT is anticipating a significant fivefold surge in data center capacity within the country, projecting it to reach around 300 megawatts (MW) by the year 2025.
By fostering partnerships with various government agencies and local government units, the Department aims to enhance the efficiency of public services and promote the seamless integration of government systems and applications.
