Hong Kong-based IT outsourcing company, PCCW Solutions, is expanding into Malaysia with a Cyberjaya data center acquisition and opening of a delivery center in Kuala Lumpur.
PCCW Solutions acquired the data center located at the heart of the Multimedia Super Corridor from MyTelehaus. The Multimedia Super Corridor is a Malaysian government-designated zone to accelerate the growth of the country’s digital economy.
“We are delighted to expand our operations in Malaysia, providing world-class IT and data center services as well as supporting our growing business in Southeast Asia,” said Ramez Younan, the Managing Director of PCCW Solutions.
The data center has connections to extensive telecom, Internet and fibre service providers, enabling it to serve as a connectivity hub for local enterprises and global hyperscale providers.
“These investments validate our commitment to supporting clients in their digital transformation journey,” added Mr. Younan.
The CJ1 data center is an Uptime Institute Tier III certified, with an availability of 99.98% and full service redundancy.
Along with the data center, PCCW Solutions has opened a new delivery center to leverage local technical and business capabilities, while providing multi-country access to help clients accelerate digital transformation.
PCCW Solutions, the IT flagship of PCCW Group, established its footprint in Malaysia last September to provide IT outsourcing and managed services to support clients in Southeast Asia.
As a leading IT services company in Hong Kong and mainland China, PCCW Solutions has plans to expand across Southeast Asia, with a presence in key and emerging markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
In August, PCCW Solutions unveiled its SLC data center in Fo Tan, Hong Kong, catering for high density and capacity requirements to support growing digital and cloud business needs in the Asia Pacific region. The company has already ‘secured substantial client pre-commitments prior to construction completion’.
Malaysia’s data center market is set to see significant growth with Microsoft and AIMS also constructing data centers in the country.
