India’s payments app Paytm has launched a ‘COVID-19 vaccine finder’ on its mini app store which will help people in finding the available slots for COVID19 vaccines in their respective locations in India by entering the pin code or district details and age group.

In case the slots are saturated for the near future, users can select the option for real-time alerts from Paytm once any slot is free. The finder tracks 780 districts in India for vaccine slot availability in one’s locality, the company said.

They further added that the automated process reduces the hassle and ordeal of refreshing the platform for new slots repeatedly. The data is sourced on a real-time basis from the CoWIN API where a slot can be booked to take the vaccination.

A Paytm spokesperson said the new feature will help users find COVID-19 vaccine slots in their locality and set for alerts when new slots open up, according to reports.

“We believe that with the combined efforts of Government, organisations, and citizens, we are on the right track to recovery. Our priority is to build collective resistance to the deadly virus as a nation, thus catalysing the process of herd immunity,” the spokesperson added.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma confirmed about this development on Twitter.

“We are launching a new tool for users to find COVID Vaccine slots and set alerts when new slots open up for their locality. Paytm checks for availability real-time and alerts users via Paytm chat when a new slot opens up”, said Sharma.

The third phase of vaccinations was announced by the Government of India, in which people between the age of 18 and 44 will be eligible for the vaccine. This vaccination drive commenced on May 1, 2021.

India has recorded 4.14 lakh fresh cases of COVID19 and 3,915 deaths in the last 24 hours.
