OVHcloud Launches its Second Data Center in Singapore

OVHcloud, a European cloud provider, has recently unveiled its second data center in Singapore. This move also marks the introduction of its most sustainable data center in the Asia-Pacific region to date. This expansion is part of OVHcloud’s global strategic plan, which aims to establish 15 new sites by 2024.

In addition to the new Singapore facility, OVHcloud launched its first data center in Mumbai in March, with plans for an additional site in Sydney in the near future. These developments are intended to enhance regional access to reliable and secure cloud solutions that cater to the growing digital demands of customers.

The newly launched data center in Singapore stands out for its implementation of advanced water cooling technology, setting a new standard for sustainable data centers in the region.

This technology enables higher server density while achieving sustainability metrics. It also aligns with Singapore’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions by adhering to strict criteria, including a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.3 or better.

Their latest data center showcases an integrated water cooling system within vertical racks, eliminating the need for traditional air conditioning in server rooms. This innovation not only reduces operational costs but also has a positive environmental impact.

The design of the data center facilitates precise and efficient cooling, with the remarkable ability to cool an OVHcloud server using just one glass of water over a 10-hour period, a substantial improvement compared to many servers on the market that require seven times more water.

These advancements have enabled OVHcloud to achieve sustainability standards, with a PUE as low as 1.29 and a Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) of 0.30 liters per kilowatt-hour, significantly below industry averages.
