The COVID-19 pandemic has turbo-boosted organisations working from home and shifting their workload to the virtual world earlier than planned. This increase in tech adoption has fuelled a rise in data centers.

While this leads to the acceleration of the digital transformation journey within organisations, cyber security issues have reared their heads. Organisations are realising that security in data centres is important. Data center security refers to the physical practices and virtual technologies used to protect a data center from external threats and attacks.

There has been a significant increase in the number of cybercrimes and it is important for organisations to be prepared for any such damage caused. Organisations at times overlook the security aspect of building a data centre.

For private companies moving to the cloud, data centers reduce the cost of running their own centralized computing networks and servers. Data centers provide services such as data storage, backup and recovery, data management, and networking. Since data centers hold sensitive or proprietary information, such as customer data or intellectual property, sites have to be both digitally and physically secured.

In order to discuss topics related to these issues, W.Media is organising a digital event ‘APAC Data Centre Security Symposium’. The event is hosted by Axis Communications, Genetec and MitKat.

The event will consist of two-panel sessions Data Centre: a rapidly growing ecosystem – Evolving trends across APAC and Physical and software data center security developments to follow.

Eminent speakers from the tech industry will be a part of this event Sushil Pradhan, COO, MitKat Advisory Services Pvt Ltd, India, Jose Thomas, National Sales Manager- Axis India SAARC, Axis Communications, Ganesh Pawar, Director – Facilities Operations, GPX India Pvt Ltd, Ashwin Ijantkar, Principal Consultant, Epsilon Design Consultancy Pvt Ltd, Malcolm Kunder, IBMS Lead – Design Data Centers, AdaniConnex, Pawan Desai, Co-founder & CEO, MitKat Global Consulting Pte Ltd, Singapore, Umesh Balaji Kothandapani- Global Sales Engineer, EMEA and SAP, Axis Communications, Manish Israni, EVP & CIO, Yotta Infrastructure, Sreejith G, Vice President – Operations, STT GDC India, Anand Thirunagari, Country Head, Genetec India and Sudhanshu Datt, Director, Data Centres, AECOM to name a few.

Data centers are complex and to protect them, security components must be considered separately but at the same time follow one holistic security policy. Every data center needs some form of security to ensure its continued use.
