Oracle, a global provider of cloud computing and technology solutions, has opened its second Cloud Region in Singapore to cater to the rapidly growing demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud services in the Southeast Asian technology hub.
In an official blog on the Oracle website, Francesco Burruano, Oracle Cloud Regions Product Marketing Manager, said, “The new cloud region enables Oracle customers and partners across all industries across Southeast Asia to migrate mission-critical workloads from their data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The two regions in Singapore can help organizations strengthen business continuity, while addressing Singapore’s data residency and sovereignty requirements.” The blog also shed light on the how first Oracle Cloud Singapore region had supported the innovation needs of more than 1,000 customers in Southeast Asia.
With this newly opened second Cloud Region, Singapore joins other nations in the Asia Pacific such as Australia, India, Japan and South Korea, as they too have two or more dedicated Cloud Regions. “OCI’s dual region strategy is to deploy at least two cloud regions in every country where we operate to enable region-to-region disaster recovery, while ensuring that data stays within borders,” said the blog. OCI now operates 39 commercial public cloud regions in 24 countries.
The blog further said that this new region in Singapore is part of Oracle’s distributed cloud, which Oracle claims, delivers the benefits of cloud with greater control and flexibility.
