On the sidelines of US President Donald J Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, global technology giant Oracle has announced an investment of US$ 14 billion into the Kingdom’s digital cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The investments will be spread over a 10-year period.
In a press release, Oracle said, that it remains committed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, and that the investment of US$14 billion over the next 10 years “will bring the world’s best cloud and AI technology to the Kingdom, empowering greater innovation and economic advancement.”
“Thanks to the decisive actions and strong leadership of President Trump and his administration, Oracle is providing the world’s most advanced cloud and AI technology to Saudi Arabia,” said Safra Catz, CEO, Oracle. “Our expanded partnership with the Kingdom will create new opportunities for its economy, deliver better health outcomes for its people, and fortify its alliance with the United States, which will create a ripple effect of peace and prosperity across the Middle East and around the world.”
Readers would recall that Oracle already has a cloud region in Jeddah and announced one for Riyadh last year. Another Oracle cloud region is also planned for NEOM. Also, recently Oracle announced plans to train 50,000 Saudi Arabians in Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills. Oracle will collaborate with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the National eLearning Center (NeLC) for its skills development initiative where MCIT and NeLC will introduce Oracle’s ‘Mostaqbali’ (My Future) program to Saudi citizens, with special focus on women and early-career professionals.
