Nxera, a leading data center business unit within the Singtel Group, has unveiled its inaugural sustainability report, outlining a comprehensive strategy to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. The company has pledged to achieve operational net-zero emissions by 2028.

As the demand for data centers continues to soar, driven by digitalization and cloud services, Nxera recognizes the industry’s significant energy consumption. To address this, the company is investing in sustainable technologies, such as liquid cooling systems and AI-powered optimization, to improve energy efficiency.

“Sustainability takes centre stage in our growth strategy as we scale the business,” said Bill Chang, CEO of Digital InfraCo, Singtel, and CEO of Nxera. “We recognise data centres consume significant energy and as a leader of digital infrastructure, we are focused on delivering next-generation innovative and sustainable data centres.”

Key initiatives highlighted in the report include:

  • Construction of eco-friendly data centers: Nxera is building DC Tuas, a high-density, low-power data center equipped with sustainable features like innovative façade designs and water conservation measures.
  • Renewable energy adoption: The company is transitioning to green energy sources and supporting customers in their decarbonization efforts.
  • Talent development: Nxera is establishing a Regional Sustainable Data Center Academy to cultivate a skilled workforce for the industry.
  • Strategic partnerships: Collaborations with energy providers, technology companies, and educational institutions are being forged to accelerate sustainability initiatives.

By prioritizing sustainability, Nxera aims to set a new industry standard and contribute to a more sustainable future.
