Chennai, a city known as a go-to destination for launching data centers, has another one from NTT. It is NTTs’ second hyperscale data center in Chennai. Located 9km from the company’s Chennai 1 Data Center, the new Chennai 2 Data Center campus will boast two 9-storey buildings. Building A and B will offer a maximum IT load of 17.4MW in each building once fully built out. With redundant power and cooling, client facilities, and extensive security, Chennai 2 can provide complete solutions for housing IT and network systems in a secure, high-availability environment. This project has subsea cable systems at an investment of $300 million. MIST subsea cable, constructed by consortium members including NTT Communications India Network Service Pte. Ltd. and Orient Link Pte. Ltd., is the first cable system for the NTT group to provide connectivity to/from India directly.

With the Chennai 2 campus commissioning, NTT’s data center footprint in the country has grown to 16 facilities, with over 3.1 million sq ft and 205 MW of IT power, further strengthening its position as the market leader in this segment. Chennai 2A will be operational in 2023.
