NTT Global Data Centers, a major player in the APAC data center market, has announced the e-inauguration of its new Kolkata data center. The 40 MW facility is part of NTT Global Data Centers’s growing footprint in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal.
Taking to LinkedIn, the company said, “This state-of-the-art facility, featuring two cutting-edge data centers, will drive innovation and support the digital growth of businesses in the region.”

In February 2023, it was revealed that the company had purchased a 7.5 acre plot in the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub area of the New Town, located in the eastern part of the city of Kolkata. The original plan was to develop three buildings totalling 6 lakh square feet when completed.
NTT has facilities in more than 20 countries the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific region. At present, NTT has 18 data centers across India in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru, with a total installed capacity of over 265 MW. It plans to scale this up to 400 MW over the next few years.
Kolkata is an important emerging market for the digital infrastructure industry and is currently home to data centers by CtrlS, STT GDC, Sify, among others. West Bengal is developing its digital connectivity infrastructure to support its growing data center industry, and is aiming to get its first Cable Landing Station in Dighi in 2026.
