NTT Global Data Centers Japan (NTT GDCJ), a subsidiary of NTT DATA Group Corporation, and TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. (TEPCO PG) have announced their collaboration in establishing a new venture dedicated to the joint development and operation of data centers in the Inzai-Shiroi area of Greater Tokyo, Japan.

The strategic partnership between NTT GDCJ and TEPCO PG aims to strategically position data centers to ensure reliable power and connectivity, supporting the overall development of data centers in the Greater Tokyo region. The initial project within this collaboration involves the acquisition of land in the Inzai-Shiroi area, a significant hub for large-scale data centers in the Asia-Pacific region.

The joint venture’s inaugural plan is to construct data centers in Inzai-Shiroi, with a planned IT load totaling 50MW. The new company, slated to be established in spring 2024, intends to deliver its first operational capacity in the second half of the fiscal year 2026.

NTT Global Data Centers is committing a substantial investment of 1.5 trillion yen (approximately 12 billion USD) over the next five years to expand and enhance its global data center business.

The shared objective of NTT GDCJ and TEPCO PG is to pioneer an advanced data center model, leveraging NTT DATA Group’s proficiency in telecommunications, data processing technology, and the construction and management of globally standardized data centers.

This complements TEPCO Group’s expertise in power facilities and the strategic utilization of dispersed power for carbon-neutral solutions, contributing to the advancement of digitalization and addressing carbon neutrality challenges in society.
