With the global pandemic causing security concerns in the ‘new normal’ of remote working, NTT has expanded their partnership with Cisco to provide enhanced secure networking for enterprises.
NTT and Cisco advocate a Secure by Design approach where enterprises are conscious of cybersecurity at all levels and build security into their networks and solutions right from the start.
“NTT’s Secure by Design approach delivers tangible outcomes to clients that want to extract the full value of Cisco’s suite of cybersecurity products and the software development, as well as the integration with Cisco’s software-defined networking solution,” said John Maynard, the Vice President of Global Security Sales at Cisco.
NTT’s managed security services incorporate a Secure Access Service Edge architecture, leveraging cloud-delivered firewall combined with Cisco’s SD-WAN.
“With the rise in SaaS adoption and number of remote offices and users, organisations are adopting SD-WAN solutions to manage different types of traffic and enable direct-to-internet access,” added Mr. Maynard.
NTT’s managed security services will also be available with Cisco’s cloud-delivered enterprise network security solution, Cisco Umbrella.
“The addition of Cisco Umbrella will offer NTT clients the scale, security and reliability needed to safely enable today’s remote workforce,” said Mr. Maynard.
NTT’s managed security services detect unknown malicious activity through their ‘unique threat intelligence and AI detection capabilities’, supporting alert correlation activity, optimising security controls, and enabling organisations to prioritise their vulnerabilities.
“Expansion of the existing relationship with our long-time partner, Cisco will strengthen our portfolio of solutions for our clients,” said Matthew Gyde, Chief Executive Officer and President for NTT’s Security division.
At the same time, NTT has committed to supporting Cisco’s on-premise Next-Generation Firewall product and Firepower series appliances across three global security services platforms: Threat Detection, Enterprise Security Monitoring and Device Management.
“Secure by Design concepts are a potent weapon in the security team’s armoury when seeking to link security with business outcomes,” said Dominic Trott, IDC’s Research Director for Security and Privacy in Europe.
From the start of 2020, cybercriminals shifted their attention to taking advantage of the uncertainty, public fear and unfamiliar remote working environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“NTT’s partnership with Cisco, which ‘bakes’ security into network and cloud infrastructures, can help customers turn the COVID-19 crisis into an opportunity for security to demonstrate its transformational impact,” added Mr. Trott.
Research by IDC has shown that secure remote access solutions dominated early responses to the pandemic, but the sentiment is shifting to more strategic use cases like secure connectivity and data security, where partnerships like the one between NTT and Cisco can have an impact.
