Japanese telecom giant NTT Docomo is set to introduce advanced technologies, focusing on 5G evolution, 6G, and generative AI. The company plans to deploy high-speed transmissions exceeding 100 Gbps, coupled with AI, to meet the demands of future 6G systems.
One notable technology, “Feel Tech,” enables the sharing of taste sensations via Docomo’s human-augmentation mobile platform, expected to enhance metaverse experiences and multimedia content.
Docomo will showcase HAPS for disaster communications, ship and drone connectivity, and underwater drones to extend mobile coverage beyond conventional areas.
Additionally, they will reveal next-gen cloud slicing and a 5G core on AWS, aiming to provide flexible network quality tailored to specific locations and time scenarios for highly sustainable networks.
Recognizing limited 5G adoption in the industrial sector, Docomo has developed a portable simulator for visualizing 5G wireless transmission characteristics.
Furthermore, the company employs generative AI to create non-player characters in the metaverse, streamlining character generation and envisioning more enriched metaverse experiences.
