Data center firm NeutraDC Nxera Batam has topped off its new hyperscale data centre, BTM-1, which was awarded Tier III design certification from the Uptime Institute on the same day, the company announced yesterday. Construction began in June 2024 supported by investments totalling Rp1 .4 trillion (US$ 85 million) over a five-year period granted by NeutraDC (the data center unit of state-owned telco Telkom Indonesia), Nxera owner SingTel and Medco Power Indonesia.
The AI-ready data center will have an initial capacity of 18 MW at launch, which can be gradually expanded up to 54 MW.
During the event, the firm also signed a master service agreement (MSA) with seven ISP and telecoms partners to supply connectivity to the carrier-neutral data center. The ISP and telco partners are Permana Net, Super Sistem Group, LitUp Network Indonesia, Iforte, Telin, Matrix Nap Info and Moratelindo.
“We are committed to continue developing data centre infrastructure and expanding Telkom Group’s regional presence to strengthen Indonesia’s position on the map of Southeast Asia’s digital economy,” said Dian Siswarini, president director of Telkom Indonesia at the Topping Off Ceremony.
w.media reported early this month that NeutraDC Nxera Batam signed an Electricity Purchase Agreement (PJBT) with Indonesian power company PT PLN Batam for the supply of up to 90 megavolt ampere (MVA) of medium-voltage electricity to the data center between 2025 and 2028.
