German IT service provider Netmountains has officially opened its new data center in Velbert, North Rhine-Westphalia state, Germany. This is its sixth facility in the country.
The facility comprising two units VEL1 and VEL2, is located at Industriestraße 76, roughly 20 kilometers north-east of Düsseldorf. The data center was built by retrofitting a previous brewery equipment manufacturing factory.
Alexander Hanke, Netmountains, CEO commented on the data center launch in a LinkedIn post saying, “A special moment for us – it was a long way from the initial concept to implementation. Now we can proudly say, Velbert has one of the most modern and sustainable data centers in Germany.”
The new data center features direct-to-chip liquid cooling (in VEL2) and air cooling (in VEL1). The first phase includes capacity for 100 racks. The Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) system sets a new standard in energy efficiency, sustainability and performance as the facility directly serves companies in the region and beyond.
Netmountains provides cloud and colocation services, and operates six data centers in Germany in Velbert, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Falkenstein and Hilden. Other than this, it has one facility each in Helsinki, Finland, and Ashburn, Virginia, USA.
