Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the leading electric power distribution company in the Philippines, has announced plans to bolster the support for hyperscale data centers within the industry.
Ronnie L. Aperocho, the Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Meralco, emphasized their commitment to provide enhanced service availability by offering data center facilities redundant power supply options sourced from highly reliable power channels.
Aperocho further highlighted Meralco’s forthcoming efforts to energize hyperscale data centers, underlining their proactive stance in meeting the escalating demands of the sector.
According to Ferdinand O. Geluz, the Senior Vice-President of Meralco, the company successfully powered hyperscale-ready data centers, boasting an initial capacity of 22 megawatts (MW) which can expand up to an impressive 180 MW in 2023.
Geluz shared insights into Meralco’s expansive plans, revealing that they are currently processing over 30 service applications, collectively totaling a capacity of 1,200 MW.
