Megaworld Corporation, a property company, has unveiled plans to establish a data science laboratory in the Philippines. Known as the Township Analytics and Technology Lab (TAT Lab), this innovative initiative aims to leverage data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to propel the development of future-ready townships nationwide.

Nestled within Megaworld’s expansive 50-hectare McKinley Hill township, the TAT Lab will serve as the company’s headquarters, spearheading groundbreaking advancements in safety and security for all Megaworld townships.

By harnessing the power of machine learning models and employing AI as a technology enabler, the TAT Lab will work diligently to elevate the level of safety and security measures implemented across Megaworld’s extensive portfolio.

Megaworld’s vision extends beyond the TAT Lab, as the corporation plans to introduce a host of data science and technology programs across its townships.

These initiatives will encompass crucial aspects such as risk management, traffic optimization, enhanced security protocols, efficient utilities management, optimized waste disposal systems, and sustainable development practices.

This data science lab is the first in the Philippines to be spearheaded by a property development company. Some other sectors in the country have also planned on leveraging artificial intelligence in their services, particularly the government.

Earlier this year, the Philippines and China signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of fostering cooperation on digital projects involving 5G, big data, IoT, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.

In accordance with the MoU, the countries will share information and best practices in digital government strategy and digital government services.
