MEEZA, a managed IT services and data centre provider from Qatar, has reached an agreement to deliver 1 MW capacity in its M-VAULT4 data centre to a global hyperscaler. The project has a total contract value exceeding 100 million QAR (US$ 27 million approx.), and extends over the remaining contract period ending in 2036.
MEEZA, established at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), offers Managed IT Services, Data Centre Services, Cloud Services, and IT Security Services, in addition to expertise in Smart Cities Solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI). While the name of the hyperscaler has not been revealed, in a LinkedIn post Meeza said that it was “one of the world’s largest technology companies”.
This collaboration aligns with the government’s recently announced “Digital Agenda 2030” strategic plans aimed at advancing digital transformation and AI technology in Qatar.
According to a press release, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has played a pivotal role in facilitating this strategic partnership, ensuring that the nation’s digital infrastructure aligns with the highest global standards. This initiative is in line with the MCIT’s ongoing efforts to provide the best hosting services, reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to becoming a global hub for cloud services.
At present, MEEZA has five certified data centres, known as M-VAULTs, with the initial capacity plan to more than triple the existing capacity to reach 50 megawatts in Qatar. M-VAULT4 is now reaching full current capacity.
