Data Center Navi Mumbai – Larsen & Toubro Limited’s colocation data center LNT NMP 1 in Panvel, Navi Mumbai has been certified tier III by the Uptime Institute.

A Tier III data center is concurrently maintainable with redundant components as a key differentiator, with redundant distribution paths to serve the critical environment. Unlike Tier I and Tier II, these facilities require no shutdowns when equipment needs maintenance or replacement.

The components of Tier III are added to Tier II components so that any part can be shut down without impacting IT operations.

“Pleased to announce that our first colocation Data Center – LNT NMP 1, Panvel, Navi Mumbai is now. Tier III Design certified by Uptime Institute. Happy to be part of your IT Modernisation & Digital Transformation Strategy. A big, heartfelt thank you to all who are part of this journey,” said Sudhir Mahajan, Vice President & Head Data Center in a LinkedIn post.

This year in the month of July the Buildings & Factories (B&F) Business of L&T Construction announced that it will construct data centers with a total capacity of 10.8 MW in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai within stringent timelines.

The scope involves the design, build, supply, installation, T&C works for the Data Center and allied buildings including fit-outs. The scope also includes systems such as the HVAC, elevators, electrical, fire fighting systems, public health engineering, networking & security systems, and building management systems.

Mumbai is expected to be the leading DC hub in the country, according to a report by JLL, Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated. In the report titled ‘2020 India Data Center Market Update’, Mumbai with 199 MW IT load is the leading data center hub of the country with nine internet cable landings and an assured power supply making it a preferred location.

The city is expected to add 330 MW during 2021-23 and Navi Mumbai is expected to account for 83 percent of capacity additions in Mumbai.
