Lenovo Data Center Group (DCG) has hired former Senior Director at NetApp, Nigel Lee, as Storage Leader in Asia Pacific.

Mr. Lee joins Lenovo DCG after 19 years at NetApp, where he served in various senior leadership roles in both the Asia Pacific and Global Accounts Organisation.

“I’m joining Lenovo DCG at a time when businesses’ storage needs are evolving and more importantly, growing,” said Mr. Lee.

Most recently, Mr. Lee was based in Hong Kong as Senior Director for World Wide Cloud Infrastructure Sales for Global Accounts at NetApp, running their Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure team.

“With Lenovo DCG’s deep expertise in the hybrid cloud space, I’m excited to bring my own experience to the organisation to help more customers better leverage the potential of data and further Lenovo DCG’s one of a kind cloud solution portfolio,” added Mr. Lee.

Mr. Lee is also credited with starting NetApp’s Asia Pacific Cloud Sales organisation, creating new sales tactics from the ground up.

“Nigel brings with him an understanding of both the needs of enterprise storage sales, as well the  subtleties and differences between the hyperconverged, hybrid cloud and on-prem data offerings,” said Sumir Bhatia, the President at Lenovo DCG Asia Pacific based in Singapore.

Throughout at 23-year career, Mr. Lee has worked in the enterprise technology space, covering technology implementation as a systems architect at Onetel in Sydney, Australia. He also formulated technology strategy and eventually led technical sales teams, holding eight roles at NetApp during his tenure.

“This will be a big advantage for the team, and we’re ecstatic to have him onboard. Nigel’s ability to translate intent to action has been impressive, and we’re looking forward to seeing how his leadership and experience will push our storage offering to new heights,” added Mr. Bhatia.

In his new role, Mr. Lee will take charge of the storage portfolio in Asia Pacific to help Lenovo DCG double down on its storage solutions offering and sales strategy to cater to the massive increase in data storage needs across the region.

In partnership with industry-leading hybrid cloud software providers Nutanix, Microsoft and VMWare, Lenovo Data Center Group recently launched new hyperconverged infrastructure solutions to enable customers to deploy and manage the full edge-to-cloud environment.
