South Korea’s largest telecommunications company KT has signed an MOU with Hanwha Corporation to launch new smart factory products and promote cooperation in digital transformation (DX) of the manufacturing sector.
In collaboration with Hanwha, KT is planning to clinch leadership in the 5G-based smart factory sector and continue to sharpen its competitiveness in the manufacturing DX business, according to a report in BusinessKorea.
Both companies will release new products that combine KT’s 5G, cloud computing, and Factory Makers, a smart factory platform, and Hanwha Corporation’s three types of collaborative robots in the third quarter of 2021. KT is planning to jointly enter the DX business in the manufacturing field by combining KT’s various ICT solutions and Hanwha Corp.’s smart factory equipment and solutions.
The two companies will also actively participate in large companies’ digital cluster construction projects and smart factory construction projects, in an effort to achieve leadership in the smart factory business.
By combining KT’s telecommunication infrastructure and Hanwha Corp.’s automation capabilities, the two companies will launch new collaborative robot products, build an automation system based on new products and jointly discover customers, and discover large projects and promote DX business cooperation.
The collaboration between these two companies is expected to elevate Korean manufacturers’ productivity.
