KIRA and SM+ Partner to Build Advanced Data Center in Jakarta

Korea Investment Real Asset Management Co., Ltd. (KIRA) and PT SMPlus Digital Investama (SM+), a digital infrastructure platform backed by Sinar Mas, have announced a joint venture to develop a new data center in Jakarta’s central business district. The project, valued at over USD 300 million, is expected to be operational by mid-2026.

The data center will be designed and operated by PT. LG Sinarmas Technology Solutions (LG Sinar Mas), a joint venture between SM+ and LG CNS, a leading South Korean data center solutions provider. The facility will feature advanced technologies, including liquid cooling, to support high-performance computing applications.

Strategically located in the heart of Jakarta, the data center will offer carrier-neutral connectivity to major internet exchanges and a nationwide network of 24 Edge data centers. It is designed to meet the growing demand for data center capacity in Indonesia, driven by digital transformation and cloud adoption.

KIRA’s investment in the project reflects its confidence in the Indonesian data center market. The partnership with SM+ leverages KIRA’s expertise in data center development and management, combined with SM+’s local market knowledge and resources.

The new data center is expected to contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth and digital development by providing a reliable and scalable infrastructure for businesses and organizations operating in the country.

Franky Oesman Widjaja, Board Member of Sinar Mas, emphasized that the new data center will provide top-tier facilities and services essential for driving digital transformation across various sectors in Indonesia, including finance, industry, government, public services, and education.

Kim Yong Sik, Chief Executive Officer of KIRA, expressed optimism about the partnership with SM+ and Sinar Mas, stating that it will significantly contribute to Indonesia’s digital transformation.
