KKR, a US investment firm, Singtel, a Singaporean telecommunications and technology firm, and Tata Communications, an Indian telecommunications firm, are reportedly initiating plans to sell their stakes in STT Global Data Centres India Private Ltd (STT GDC India), of which the trio are key shareholders, in a bid to rebalance their capital and unlock value.
Advisors have already been brought on board, according to a report from ET CIO. The sale process will tap global players already in, or planning an entry into, the Indian market, the publication said. Financial sponsors and deep-pocketed Indian conglomerates that have announced mega investments in the data center space will also be approached.
STT GDC India’s parent, STT GDC, came under KKR and Singtel ownership this year. The pair announced in February 2026 that they had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining 82 percent of STT GDC from ST Telemedia for a total consideration of approximately US$ 5.1 billion and an implied enterprise value of approximately US$ 10.9 billion. KKR took a 75 percent ownership stake, with Singtel owning the remaining 25 percent.
A senior data center executive familiar with the matter told ET CIO that STT GDC India’s investment pipeline has improved dramatically and that this sale seeks to balance the global capital requirement of its expansion by monetizing the portfolio.
As much as 75 percent of STT GDC India’s revenue comes from hyperscalers, on contracts that run for between seven and 15 years. Operating revenue grew at a 15 percent compound annual growth rate between the 2021 and 2025 financial years.
This week, STT GDC India inaugurated STTGDC NOI2, adding 22 MW of critical IT load capacity to its Noida campus. STT GDC India now has 34 data centers across 10 cities, with more than 613 MW of critical IT load including projects under development.
“India’s continued digital growth and increasing adoption of AI are creating demand for infrastructure that can support larger, more complex and more compute-intensive workloads. STTGDC NOI2 strengthens our capacity in one of the country’s most important digital infrastructure markets and reflects our commitment to investing ahead of customer demand,” said Bimal Khandelwal, STT GDC India Chief Executive Officer.
NOI2 forms part of approximately 200 MW of planned IT capacity across Delhi NCR, and Neysa has selected the facility to host its AI compute expansion. STT GDC India also has planned investments and agreements with the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
