KakaoBank, a prominent mobile bank in Korea, has established an artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory at Digital Realty’s ICN10 data center in Seoul, as announced by Digital Realty. This strategic move is set to expedite KakaoBank’s advancements in AI-powered services, personalized content development, and research and development for innovative financial services.
The selection of Digital Realty’s ICN10 data center by KakaoBank is attributed to its features aligning with the bank’s requirements. The modular and flexible design of Digital Realty’s data center facilitated the swift deployment of KakaoBank’s AI solution at ICN10, with the capability to scale as per evolving needs.
Moreover, ICN10’s dedicated access to AWS Direct Connect empowers KakaoBank to seamlessly link its private infrastructure to AWS Asia Pacific (Seoul) Region, offering a connectivity solution characterized by low latency, high performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
Positioned centrally in Seoul’s Digital Media City, ICN10, along with its network-neutral environment, provides KakaoBank with a strategic advantage. This minimizes latency and offers diverse connectivity options to other data centers of domestic financial institutions nationwide.
Hyun-chul Ahn, Chief Research and Development Officer of KakaoBank, highlighted the collaborative environment created through the establishment of the AI center. This setup aims to strengthen cooperation with the Kakao community, external academia, and businesses.
KakaoBank plans to expedite various AI-based ventures and research involving intricate operations, such as generative AI and language models, to expand its customer base and enhance technological capabilities for sustained growth.
