Mumbai continues to be the destination of choice for global data center players, attracting big-ticket projects. The maximum city opened its innings in 2026, with Iron Mountain Data Centers officially breaking ground on their 85 MW hyperscale data center campus. The campus is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

In a LinkedIn post the company said the need for AI-ready infrastructure is growing exponentially in response to the boom in India’s digital economy. “This isn’t just a new building; it’s a data center facility designed for high-density, compute-intensive workloads that will define the next decade of innovation,” it said.

Rajesh Tapadia, CEO, Data Centers – India, Iron Mountain Data Centers said in a LinkedIn post that this facility was “designed for high-density, compute-intensive AI workloads, combining scale, speed-to-market, and intelligent engineering.” He further said, “Sustainability remains core to how we build for the future—from advanced cooling architectures to renewable energy matching that supports our customers’ ESG goals.”

Iron Mountain Data Centers, a major player in the global data center industry, was previously in a joint venture with Indian data center company Web Werks. But effective April 1, 2025, it has taken over the latter. The company says that it is committed to building infrastructure that is not just future-ready, but responsible by design.
