OTT（Over the top） is rapidly changing the way consumers consume content and their preferences globally. In Asia, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) is expected to reach 470 million households by 2022.
China, in particular, as the country with the largest number of OTT subscribers in the world, is showing strong and sustained growth, with total SVOD revenue in the Chinese market expected to reach 94.8% of traditional TV channel revenue by 2022, meaning that traditional TV media and Internet TV programs, will be neck and neck in terms of program revenue. Meanwhile, cutting-edge technologies such as AI, 5G and IoT continue to empower OTT, thus driving this growth trend.
However, as more players enter the market and consumer demand for content becomes increasingly diverse and experience needs highly standardized, it becomes increasingly difficult to differentiate from the competition, whether it is broadcasters delivering open internet content (OTT) services, franchised OTT providers or telcos delivering online video for commercial profit. From programming to pricing, the differences between services are minimal. As a result, video streaming quality and exceptional user experience across all devices is becoming a key differentiator. This means that these companies must ensure the best quality video delivery and a fast and uninterrupted experience on all devices, anytime, anywhere, and do so in a cost-effective manner.
So, how do you achieve these goals? W.Media will invite experts to discuss these topics in depth. This will be an insightful, bi-lingual event (English/Chinese), so register now!
