Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat) and Google Cloud have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy sovereign cloud and edge cloud solutions within Indonesia. This collaboration aims to address the nation’s stringent data residency, security, and privacy regulations while empowering local businesses to harness the power of AI and advanced analytics.
Under the partnership, Indosat will offer Google’s Distributed Cloud (GDC) platform to Indonesian organizations across various sectors, including government, defense, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. GDC will enable these entities to run AI and data-intensive workloads within their preferred locations, ensuring complete control over sensitive data.
Indosat plans to host GDC on its domestic data centers, reinforcing data sovereignty and compliance with Indonesian laws such as the Personal Data Protection Law. This move is expected to bolster trust among local businesses and government agencies, encouraging wider adoption of cloud technologies.
The collaboration focuses on providing organizations with the tools and infrastructure necessary for rapid digital transformation. By combining Google Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities with Indosat’s local expertise, the partnership seeks to drive innovation and economic growth in Indonesia.
