Indian Cloud-for-agriculture Venture Secures Funding from Google & Other Investors

Cropin, which bills itself as the forerunner in global agritech and the creator of the first industry cloud for agriculture, claims to have raised 1.130 billion rupees (roughly $13.8 million) in funding from existing investors ABC Impact and Chiratae Ventures as well as new investors Google and JSR Corporation.

The funding will assist the business meet the rising need for digitization and predictive intelligence in the global agriculture sector by enabling it to grow Cropin Cloud, its recently announced intelligent agriculture cloud platform.

With the help of this funding round, Cropin will be able to increase the platform’s functionality and, through its Cropin AI Labs division, develop solutions for next-generation predictive intelligence.

According to Cropin, AI Labs wants to bring predictive intelligence to every acre of arable land in the world. Additionally, Cropin intends to increase the scope of its business operations in new regions and industries, with a particular emphasis on developing solutions that advance sustainable agricultural methods and comprehensively address problems with global food security.

Governments and businesses in the agriculture and food industries are looking for ways to boost production, efficiency, and income in order to meet domestic demand and decrease food waste. With its strategic technological solutions, Cropin claims to be well-suited to assist governments, development organizations, and agri-food companies in changing and building a secure and sustainable food value chain.

Cropin, which was founded in 2010, created Cropin Cloud, the first industry cloud for the agricultural sector. Using digital technologies and predictive intelligence, Cropin Cloud enables various stakeholders in the agricultural ecosystem to make well-informed decisions that increase farming efficiency, boost productivity, manage risk and environmental change, and improve sustainability.

For more than 200 million acres of agriculture worldwide, Cropin Cloud’s intelligence platform has already delivered predictive intelligence.
