In India, 5G services are rolled out since October 2022 and in just nine months, 5G availability has reached 29.9%. A trade report has analyzed some of the 5G experience benchmarks for the period from March 1-May 29, 2023.
5G is the latest telecom technology that is being rolled out across the globe. While some countries like South Korea are nearing the 50% mark of 5G availability, others like Indonesia are just starting out. South Korea and Puerto Rico lead in worldwide 5G availability with 5G users in these markets approaching half of the time spent with an active 5G connection with scores of 42.9% and 48.4% respectively.
In India, average 5G download speeds are 19.2 times as fast as 4G speeds. India witnessed an average 5G download speed of 301.6 Mbps. A variant of the global standard for 5G (3GPP) has been developed in India known as TDSI-RIT. TDSI-RIT offers enhanced rural coverage and reduces costs to cover a certain defined area.
