Huawei Launches “Go Cloud, Go Global” in Thailand

"Huawei Connect 2022" held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

Huawei Technologies, China’s telecommunications giant, has launched “Go Cloud, Go Global” in Thailand. This initiative is part of the company’s strategic approach to enhance technology engagement with partners across 5G, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital skill building in order to advance the digital economy.

Currently, more than 38,000 partners support Huawei Cloud globally. In Asia-Pacific, there are about 2,400 partners, with nearly 400 of them in Thailand.

According to Jacqueline Shi, president of Huawei Cloud’s Global Marketing and Sales Service, the company has also developed 70 availability zones (AZs) for cloud services to assist the digital transformation initiatives conducted by countries. In Thailand, there are three of them, in Bangkok, Chon Buri, and Samut Prakan.

As of last year, Thailand has more than 20,000 stations and 4.3 million subscribers, making it the country with the most 5G coverage in Asean. The high internet and mobile internet penetration in Thailand has supported the demand for data centers and cloud technologies, as people and consumers spend more time online and businesses adjust to the new business norms of work-from-home and the gig economy.

Hence, consumer confidence in the country’s communications infrastructure, 5G technology, and judicial system, as well as the government’s support of the digital economy, have all contributed to these changing behaviors.

According to Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Thailand’s Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Thailand is now recovering from the recent pandemic, and an innovation-led and knowledge-based strategy would help with that; something that will help Thailand upgrade its industries through digital transformation and attract new startups and value-added sectors to help the country escape the so-called middle-income trap.

By holding Huawei’s annual flagship event outside of China in the Thai capital, which is the first time the company has done so. Thailand has proven to be one of Huawei’s success stories in South-east Asia.
