HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. has announced plans to convert a Tier-1 data center in Boden, Sweden, into a Tier-3 liquid-cooled High Performance Computing (HPC) facility to expand its AI Cloud operations.
In a press release, HIVE said that construction to upgrade the facility will begin Q4 2025, and the upgraded facility will deliver critical load, supporting 2,000 NVIDIA GPUs for enterprise-grade AI and GPU cloud workloads across the European Union. Today, HIVE builds and operates blockchain and AI data centers across Canada, Sweden, and Paraguay.
Johanna Thornblad, Sweden Country President, said, “The Boden expansion reinforces Sweden’s leadership in sustainable digital infrastructure. Building on our two years of AI operations in Stockholm, this conversion project will deliver enterprise-grade AI capacity to the EU market faster and more efficiently than traditional data-center builds.”
