
Government of India comes up with an Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme

The Government of India has come up with the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (ISDP) to keep a track of the epidemic prone diseases and prevent an outbreak. Further, a weekly data of the same is collected and monitored and surveillance units have been established in States and District Headquarters to keep a track of the data.
As a part of this programme, the states and Union Territories will be provided with additional manpower, training of Rapid Response members for outbreak investigations, strengthening of laboratories for the detection of epidemic prone diseases, equipment’s for data entry, analysis and data transfer.
ArogyaSetu App, is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT for contact tracing of people who could have been infected with COVID-19, self-assessment and symptoms mapping. This app also helps in the identification of COVID-19 clusters.
The government of India earlier this year had also introduced the COWIN App, which is a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This application is developed to keep a track of the ongoing vaccination process in India and also helps the citizens of India to register themselves on the app to get themselves vaccinated.
The COVID- India portal and Testing portal, developed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been put in place to manage the different aspects of the current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic which include keeping a track of the number of cases, infrastructure availability and testing to name a few.
The ISDP is also gearing up to help track and follow up with passengers coming from different countries like China, Taiwan etc.
