Google Cloud has announced that it will be collaborating with Pakuwon Jati, EIKON Technology, Wings Suraya, and Metrodata in joint projects to create an ecosystem which may boost Surabaya’s economic growth and digital transformation.

Under these joint projects, Google Cloud will bring together technology partners and large corporations to bolster cloud and data-powered innovation in East Java. As Indonesia’s second-largest city and smart manufacturing hub, Surabaya is a prime location for Google Cloud to invest in, to enhance Indonesia’s digital sector.

Eri Cahyadi, the Mayor of Surabaya, affirmed his support for Google Cloud’s projects, saying that “we  welcome the presence of Google Cloud in Surabaya and are optimistic that its technological capabilities can help accelerate the digital transformation of various important sectors across our city. We encourage the use of cloud computing to boost efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and the security of public services and businesses alike.

Holistic, Cloud-based Digital Transformation

By partnering with Indonesian companies, Pakuwon Jati, EIKON Technology, Wings Suraya, and Metrodata, Google Cloud aims to support and bolster cross-industry digital transformation efforts in Surabaya.

Real estate developer Pakuwon Jati, which developed much of Surabaya’s physical infrastructure, is collaborating with Google Cloud and EIKON Technology to gear up its company processes for future growth. Pakuwon Jati will be adopting Google Workspace and Google Cloud’s scalable and carbon neutral infrastructure, to modernise its mission-critical enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Director of Finance Minarto Basuki said that the collaboration with Google Cloud would allow them to “optimise IT costs, reduce our IT workloads’ carbon footprint, ensure zero downtime, and implement the highest security standards.”

Wings Surya, a Suraya-based distributor of household, personal care, and F&B products, is extending its collaboration with Google Cloud, incorporating Google Cloud’s intelligent imaging technology within its production lines and distribution channels.

Google Cloud and Metrodata Academy are collaborating to address growing demand for digital talent, by setting up cloud training programs for local graduates which will allow students to upgrade their digital skills and support local companies’ digital transformation efforts.

Cahyadi expressed his confidence in Surabaya’s collaboration with Google Cloud, saying “we hope that the cooperation that’s been established between the Surabaya City Government and Google Cloud can continue to be strengthened – because with strong synergy, we can make Surabaya even greater.”
