Globe Telecom recently unveiled its impressive progress in bolstering its 5G infrastructure across the Philippines during the first half of the year. The company proudly activated 356 new 5G sites, resulting in an extensive outdoor 5G coverage of 97.44% in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 91% in pivotal cities within Visayas and Mindanao.
Notably, Globe also disclosed that it has registered an impressive count of 5.2 million 5G devices connected to its network by June 2023. This achievement serves as a clear indicator of the growing popularity and confidence in Globe’s cutting-edge 5G technology among consumers.
Joel Agustin, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Engineering at Globe, emphasized that their relentless pursuit of expanding 5G technology demonstrates Globe’s unwavering dedication to innovation and its pledge to serve its customers. They firmly believe in the transformative potential of 5G to enhance the digital experiences of Filipinos.
5G, the latest advancement in mobile communication, offers faster data transfer rates, broader coverage, and more reliable connectivity. Globe has consistently led the way in testing and piloting various 5G technologies, including 5G stand-alone, end-to-end network slicing, and private 5G stand-alone networks. This commitment further solidifies Globe Telecom’s position at the forefront of the 5G revolution.
In June, Globe Telecom announced that it successfully rolled out 5G Voice over New Radio (VoNR) technology in the Philippines. VoNR is a cutting-edge voice solution developed on a standalone 5G network, offering improved voice quality, fast call setup, and seamless handovers.
In July, Globe Telecom also successfully rolled out the most advanced 5G technology, the End-to-End (E2E) Network Slicing Function of 5G Standalone (SA), in the Philippines.
