Globe Telecom Accelerates Cable Station Construction for Philippine Network

Globe Telecom is forging ahead with its efforts to finalize the construction of all cable landing stations supporting the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) this year, as it intensifies its infrastructure development to bolster digitalization.

Reporting that inland facilities for the $150-million subsea cable project have reached 90-percent completion, the company underscores the pivotal role of these stations in linking undersea fiber optic cables with on-ground connectivity networks for efficient internet data transmission.

Teaming up with telecommunications leader Easter Communications and digital solutions provider InfiniVAN, Globe recently inaugurated these stations in various key locations including Lucena City, Quezon; Boaca, Marinduque; Calatrava, Tablas Island in Romblon; Roxas City, Capiz; Placer, Masbate; Palompon, Leyte; Mactan, Cebu; Talisay City, Cebu; Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.

Furthermore, the consortium successfully concluded cable-laying operations in April of the previous year, marking significant progress towards enhancing connectivity infrastructure across the Philippine archipelago.

The PDSCN spans 2,500 kilometers across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as part of its subsea cable network project. It is the longest of its kind in the country and is anticipated to improve internet access in the regions, constituting a contribution from Globe to the government’s request to promote digitization even in rural locations.
