Globe Telecom, a leading telecommunications provider in the Philippines, has further solidified its commitment to sustainable operations by renewing its partnership with First Gen Corp., a major renewable energy player in the country. The latest agreement will see First Gen supplying renewable energy to power two of Globe’s critical data centers.
Under the renewed contract, First Gen will provide clean energy sourced from the Tongonan Geothermal Power Plant in Leyte, operated by its subsidiary Energy Development Corporation. This marks the fourth consecutive year of collaboration between the two companies, underscoring their shared dedication to environmental sustainability.
The partnership aligns with Globe’s broader goal of reducing its carbon footprint and transitioning to a more energy-efficient infrastructure. By utilizing renewable energy sources, Globe can significantly decrease its reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
Carlos Lorenzo Vega, First Gen’s vice president for power marketing, trading, and economics, emphasized the companies’ shared vision of a decarbonized and regenerative future. Both Globe and First Gen are committed to sustainable practices, and this partnership reflects their shared values and goals.
