Gaw Capital Partners, a real estate private equity firm, has announced a strategic partnership with Sinar Primera, a prominent Indonesian new economy real estate developer, to establish a Data Center in Batam, Indonesia.
The first phase of this project, located in Nongsa Digital Park, is set to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024. This single-storey building will offer up to 6MW of critical IT load.
Gaw Capital will be the primary investor, while Sinar Primera will acquire a minority stake in the property and serve as the project’s development manager. Together, they aim to create a state-of-the-art data center facility, leveraging Gaw Capital’s investment expertise and Sinar Primera’s property development skills.
This initiative will facilitate the near-shoring strategy for data center operators in Singapore and strengthen the “digital bridge” connecting Singapore and Indonesia.
The Indonesian government’s National Council for Special Economic Zones Secretariat General has reaffirmed the data centers’ property security status and complete data security, providing assurance to customers and data center operators regarding data protection.
Earlier this year, Gaw Capital Partners has also announced its plans to invest into data center assets across key markets in the Southeast Asia region. It formed a joint venture with A3 Capital in launching the first Infinaxis data center in Malaysia.
